Sail past the light art on your own covered, heated electric boat, for up to 25 guests
Every winter Amsterdam turns its canals into an open-air gallery. The Amsterdam Light Festival is back for its 15th edition, from 26 November 2026 to 17 January 2027. The artworks are lit every evening from 16:30 to 23:00 (until 21:00 on 31 December), and the best seat is a boat.
This is a private evening cruise: the boat is yours alone, with your own skipper. The boat is 10 metres long and fully electric, so it is quiet on the water. The canopy closes completely, the cabin is heated and there are blankets on board, so you stay warm and dry with a clear view of the artworks. There is a private toilet on board.
The cruise
The festival route takes about 1.5 hours and runs along the lit artworks in the centre and east of the city, past the Magere Brug and the Amstel locks. You book the boat for 2 hours. Your skipper sails the route and tells you what you are looking at.
Drinks and bites
When you book you choose a drinks package, or you bring your own drinks and pay a corkage fee. Snack platters and food can be added at checkout. Playing music from the boat is not allowed on the Amsterdam canals.
Good to know
The boat takes up to 25 guests. We meet at Stationsplein in Amsterdam. If you want to board somewhere else in the centre, tell us when you book. You can cancel for free up to 7 days before departure. Between 7 days and 48 hours before departure you get 50% back, and within 48 hours there is no refund.
