Every winter Amsterdam turns into an open-air gallery. During the 15th Amsterdam Light Festival (26 November 2026 to 17 January 2027), twenty light artworks line the canals of the city centre and east, on a new route past the Skinny Bridge and the Amstel locks. The best place to see them is on the water.
You sail for about 75 minutes on a fully covered, heated sloop with up to 25 guests and blankets within reach. The boat is fully electric, so there is no engine noise, only the water and the city. An experienced skipper sails the route and tells the story along the way. There is a toilet on board.
When you book, choose a ticket with or without drinks. The drinks ticket includes unlimited glühwein, beer, wine and soft drinks for the whole cruise. Without it, you can buy drinks on board.
Good to know
- Board at Stationsplein, close to Amsterdam Central Station.
- Departures: Monday to Thursday 18:30, Friday and Saturday 16:45, 18:30 and 20:15, Sunday 16:45 and 18:30. Extra sailings may appear in the calendar on busy days.
- The exact length depends on how busy the water is.
- Child tickets are for ages 4 to 12.
- Single tickets can be cancelled free of charge up to 24 hours before departure. Within 24 hours there is no refund.

We went for the unlimited bar and silent disco. It was absolutely phenomenal. All the lads said it was class. “I have rented a boat trip on 'Mosi Jo' boat. The boat itself is very good, it fits 25 people perfectly. The staff prepared ice, glasses for the drinks, even if we told that we will bring our own drinks :) The boat also contains a small and private toilet. The skipper was nice and very welcoming.”
